Question: Am I doing something wrong?

I am 4 weeks out from my surgery.  I have not lost any significant amount of weight since Dec. 27th.  In fact, my new scale says I am 0.6 lbs up.  (I am not liking my new scale right now.)

I do not have "restriction" -- I can actually eat anything, any size of bite.  However, I do get full with smaller amounts of food.  In fact, if it weren't for the scars and feeling my port "lump", I would thingk I've had nothing done at all and there is no lap band in there!  Note:  I see my doctor the 24th and I am expecting my first fill.  Perhaps this may change.

I am eating "normal" food and have found nothing I am not able to eat.

I am frustrated.  Have I spent all this money and survived all the pain and discomfort for a loss of only 34 pounds?  That is NOT acceptable.

Are you writing down your food (keeping track of calories and protein)? Aim for about 1200 calories a day and at least 60 grams of protein. The more protein the better.

Are you exercising? The kind of exercise where you sweat for at least 30 minutes each day?

You can do it! :)

You're in bandster hell... you're doing nothing wrong, your tool is just not being utilized right now.

Also, is 34 lbs something to be upset about? DEFINITELY NOT!

You are stuck in bandster hell - the period of time before you get to restriction... it's HORRIBLE... hang in there and do your best to eat well and exercise. It will get better once you have a fill or two. Hang in there!!!!

Lap Band Gal: Getting the protein is hard for me. Since the surgery, every thing is just too sweet! It is weird--I've always LOVED sweets!! So protein shakes make me gag!EXERCISE???? AHHHHHH!! Say it isn't so! I know-I know--I need too! Boy I hate it!

Ronnie: no 34 lbs is VERY GOOD! I don't mean to whine but I have not lost anything significate in two weeks! I really thought I would be losing alot more.

Rachel: Yes this is hell! did I also mention I AM HUNGRY? Will that go away after a fill as well? I must say I am not a thrilled about all this yet. Even though I am thrilled with what I have lost, I cannot say I love my band yet!!!

Will I ever? 34 lbs is great but this bandster hell is most unacceptable!!!

It is normal. A fill will help.

yes yes yes, bandster hell....it is rough, but temporary. PROMISE! I use myfitnesspal.com (had a mobile app where you can scan food labels) to give myself an idea of how much protein I'm eating. Although it is sometimes a chore (and I just don't want to do it sometimes), it still helps me watch my diet.
